Turquoise has a strong connection to the throat chakra and helps to enhance communication and expression. It also aligns all of the chakras and is often used for healing purposes. Turquoise can also help you become more open to love and forgiveness, and release patterns of self-sabotage.

These turquoise specimens are solid, natural stones; meaning they are not reconstructed, stabilized, or enhanced in any way. They are offered to you in their original form; free of dyes, plastics, and resins.

You may ask, what's the difference?

Reconstructed turquoise is a mix of turquoise powder and other plastic materials such as epoxy. What distinguishes this type of turquoise is the “plastic” feel to the touch compared to a natural turquoise stone. As reconstructed turquoise has traces of natural turquoise, it is classified as low-quality turquoise and mostly used for cheaper jewelry. It is often preferred to natural turquoise because its composition makes it looks “perfect”, without the natural imperfections that characterize turquoise gemstone.

Stabilized turquoise is the most common type of turquoise available on the market. Since most of the extracted turquoise is unusable in its natural state, stabilization allows it to improve its characteristics. The stabilization process consists in the addition of epoxy to lower grade turquoise through pressure. This process not only hardens the stone, but it also intensifies the color; in addition, it is possible to use it for all types of turquoise, both on low and higher quality turquoise stones.

Natural turquoise, therefore, has a higher value and price than enhanced, stabilized, or reconstructed turquoise. Consequently, the price of the stone will be higher.

The pieces offered in this listing are also solid "chunks", unlike our wavy turquoise, which is really cool-looking, but more of a small, thin, wavy slab. These chunks are longer, thicker, and wider than the wavy turquoise pieces we have in stock.

All turquoise is beautiful whether it is natural, reconstructed, stabilized, wavy, or chunky stones. We offer turquoise in all of these varieties so that you have choices.

One stone will be chosen for you intuitively upon purchase by Meta or Mya Moondance, but if you have a shade preference, please do let us know in the notes section of your order, and we will do our best to accommodate you, depending on stock available at the time of your purchase.

As you can see from the photos, the color and hue can vary greatly. Some are more on the greener side, while some are more of a blue shade, and some are equally almost straight down the middle with a mixture of blue and green. Much of this color variation depends on which mine it was dug out of, but most of the differences have more to do with minerals that grew close by to each specimen, melding with the turquoise over time. It is also not uncommon to find traces of pyrite and/or copper elements in turquoise.
