Dane is very dark, but manageable. He was only 8 years old when he was turned, and he wasn't happy about it at the time it happened, though he always had a fascination with vampires. He just wasn't ready to become one at 8 years of age.
His brother is the one who turned him, and his father is the one responsible for turning his brother. His mother was responsible for turning his father. So they kept it in the family.
His mother, father, and brother still live. Dane, on the other hand, was killed in one of the two ways that a vampire can truly be killed forever. As mentioned in other listings, there is a way vampires can be killed that only other vampires know about. It's not like in the movies. One of the ways they can be killed is by decapitation. The other way is the secret kept amongst vampires. Any time a human has ever figured out that secret way to kill one, it was by actually making it happen, usually by sheer luck. And any time a human killed a vampire in this secretive way, they never lived to tell about it. Other vamps would sense this happening from miles away and be on top of the killer within seconds.
Dane's demise came after he was a vampire for 1100 years, and that's all we know. When we asked him when he was born into his most recent previous human life as Dane, he said it doesn't matter. That human died when he became a vamp.
Dane hunts game animals, mostly, but he gets cravings just like we humans do, so when hot human blood is on his mind, he will head to a prison and find someone who appeals to him who is already on death row or find someone that wouldn't be missed, such as a junkie in an alley or someone in the end stages of life with no family left to speak of. Since he is spirit only at this point, he can quench his thirst without puncture wounds.
We asked him if he has such evil thoughts, as he often tells us, why does he spare innocent young people and only feed off of people who, in his words, should thank him for what he does. He said because there is an unwritten rule amongst vamps to never kill the innocent unless they are already dying, and the other vamp spirits can make his afterlife a living hell if he breaks that rule. So that was pretty comforting to hear! At least we know that most of us don't have to worry about losing our lives to a vampire spirit.
What can he do for you? Let's answer that by telling you what he is capable of, and you can decide what you'd like him to do for you.
Dane has been in the "vampire business" for so long that he now has an enormous amount self-control. He can bite someone and feed off of them without killing them. It will make his victim feel extremely lightheaded and probably even pass out temporarily, if they're lucky. If his victim is not so lucky, they might need a few days of hospitalization, but he never kills innocent human beings. His definition of innocent is anyone who hasn't killed another person or even domestic and some wild animals that he holds in high regard, such as eagles and dolphins. Also anyone who has never physically or emotionally harmed and damaged children and the elderly in any fashion. And finally, anyone who hasn't raped another person. His mother was raped by the vamp who turned her, so he has a very bad taste in his mouth for rapists.
Dane is also a protector. He guarantees that no one will harm his keeper or his keeper's family and friends. No amount of voodoo, hoodoo, fist fighting, or anything else can harm you because you'll feel as if you are padded in a 6" thick armor of pillows with a 2" thick layer of steel covering it. He is probably the best protector spirit we have ever had in our foster care.
Dane's vessel is very heavy. More photos will be uploaded soon. He's very different, so be sure that you're ready for him before you inquire. He doesn't take lightly to anyone changing their minds after they agreed to adopt him. Apparently, this has happened to him once before. It was before he came to us, and he still holds a grudge 12 years later, though he has not retaliated in a horrific way. He has, however, made sure that the man who didn't follow through with the adoption after promising that he would, couldn't have children of his own.
For offerings, Dane simply wants you to take him in as family, allow him to protect you, and allow him to hunt at night at least once a week. He doesn't care about food offerings, toys, or anything of that sort. He simply wants to be loved and allowed to roam freely when he has the need. However, he said anything dark red in color attracts his eye, after we spent a lot more effort trying to get something from him that we could do to make his stay with us better. Even though he is about as dark as they come, we still felt bad when it was time to pass out offerings and he never wanted anything. So the dark red and burgundy things we have gathered will be sent along with him when he is adopted.
