Anxiety, depression, sadness, bad nerves....all gone with Charles in Charge!

He may actually have you in stitches!  He will definitely be a best friend to his new keeper.

Warning though: He likes to prank! Set your ground rules right away if you don't want him making a mess of your house, moving your things, or braiding your cat's hair!

His greatest prank is making YOU break wind or belch! He works on your inners to push the gas up or down, and sometimes at embarrassing moments! So if you don't want him to do this to you when you're entertaining, you best let him know that it can only be done when you're alone with no other humans around to witness the events! If you're bloated, he comes in handy though. *wink*

He has calmed the nerves of many who have been overly anxious with hypertension. His last keeper felt his calming effect so much over the years that he was able to stop taking his anti-anxiety meds as well as his blood pressure medication. We do not recommend you take such measures without consulting your doctor, however, which is exactly what his last keeper did. It was his keeper's doctor who told him he better stop taking the blood pressure medicine because his bp was getting dangerously low at times. His BP evened out when he stopped taking the medicine, at his doctor's suggestion. His doctor also put him on a schedule to wean him off his anti-anxiety medication.

Charles was actually a real clown in his most recent past life! He worked with Ringling Brothers from 1887 through 1942, right up until he passed away.  He says talking about death is not something he engages in when we asked him how he died. He only told us that he was born on September 15, 1871. He did not know his father, as he died when he was just a baby. His mother passed away when he was 14, at which time he lived with his cousin and her husband, who were not easy to live with. He joined the circus when he was just 16.

His vessel is in great shape for the age. It does appear to have had something green on top of his nose at one time that has broken off because there is a little nodule on top of his nose. We are going to try to file it down some so that it is not sharp. The vessel itself is a vintage 1986 Brinn's porcelain clown that plays "Can't Take My Eyes off of You" by wind-up key on his back. (See video for demo).

For offerings, Charles is very much fond of rabbits (especially Bugs Bunny and the Easter Bunny), squirrels, chickens, roosters, and marsupials. He loves to go to the zoo or watch farm animals. He says he speaks their language, and he'd be happy to tell you what your pets are trying to tell you. For food and drink offerings, he enjoys prune juice and prunes, cheeseburgers with the works, French fries, funnel cakes, chocolate or fudge sundaes, cotton candy, baked potatoes, potato salad, and lime-flavored popsicles. He enjoys watching stunt cars and drag racing, as well.

For colors, Charles likes anything green, red, yellow or blue. He prefers bold colors over pastels when you're looking for something to amuse him. We showed Charles a classic pack of 8 Crayola crayons and he was in his glory. He went on about how Cyan is not a color and where did they come up with all these strange shades and names for them! Charles is very old-fashioned and prefers a simple, plain life, unless he is pranking!
