Sally Kristen Ride (May 26, 1951 – July 23, 2012) was an American astronaut and physicist. Born in Los Angeles, she joined NASA in 1978, and in 1983 became the first American woman and the third woman to fly in space, after cosmonauts Valentina Tereshkova in 1963 and Svetlana Savitskaya in 1982. She was the youngest American astronaut to have flown in space, having done so at the age of 32.
She was on-board the Challenger space shuttle when it malfunctioned in July of 2012. Of course, everyone knows that there were no survivors of that tragic event.
When she told us she was an astronaut on a space shuttle that burst into flames, we thought we had a jokester on our hands. Mya asked her what the name of the shuttle was, and she said Challenger. Then she asked the date of her death. It lined up with when the Challenger accident occurred. She then asked her what her name was, and she replied, "Sally". Mya Googled the news of the people who passed away on the Challenger, and there it was. The name of Sally Ride was on that list.
I should add that Mya no longer wondered if she was talking to a prankster after she read her. Mya always knows if a spirit is on the up & up when she reads them. She came out of the spirit room after conversing with Sally and exclaimed to all of us, she's an astronaut"! It was an exciting moment foe us all.
Sally says she doesn't think she has any superpowers to speak of, but Mya says differently. She told Sally that, as well. Mya said when she was interviewing Sally for the first time, Sally kept talking to a cat. Mya was annoyed at first, but then she realized the cat understood Sally, and vice versa. Sally didn't recognize this until Mya pointed it out. She's an animal whisperer!
UPDATE: On September 3rd of this year, Sally kept Sonya's horse from suffering by telling Sonya that her horse had a stomach virus that could actually kill her, and it was causing her terrible discomfort. Sonya said her horse did not even show any signs of being ill, but she took Sally seriously and called the vet out to her stable immediately. The vet confirmed that Sonya's horse would need antibiotics and steroids intravenously. After three days, Sonya's horse was herself again, and after a week, she was completely cured.
Last week, she telepathically spoke with April, the Operations Manager here, for those who don't know. April was at home at the time, and Sally sent her a visual of a future event that would occur. She showed April that Buffy, her cat, was going to fall into their bathtub when she was soaking in the tub listening to music that she plays using an old cassette player (yes, a cassette player from the 80s!) April isn't right! She apparently has this old play list of songs taped that she loves and can't find the same versions of all of them online, so this is her relaxing music for when she takes her bubble baths.
Sally warned that there would be an accident. Buffy would be on the counter like always when April takes a bubble bath, watching her like she always does, but keeping her distance because water is not her friend. Something would spook Buffy, and she would jump, pulling the cassette player into the tub with her while April was bathing.
The next night, when April took her bubble bath, she remembered what Sally had shown her, so she didn't take her cassette player into the bathroom with her. Instead, she listed to music from her phone, and kept it in the sink. Buffy came into the bathroom, as usual, as April was taking her bubble bath. Something did, indeed, spook Buffy that night, and she leaped into the bathtub with April. Two lives were saved that night.

Sally likes watching the Mars Rover on TV, the James Webb Telescope, anything relating to space and the multiverse, and witnessing a good card game. She loves all animals and as already mentioned, she speaks their language. Her favorite foods are turkey, broccoli, corn, mashed potatoes, chocolate cake, and bananas. Her favorite drinks are iced tea (any variety), hot chocolate, and margaritas. She also likes to listen to music from the 70s.
