Fern was born March 8, 1841 and died on July 5, 1870. At just 22 years of age, she was already a widow. Her husband died in the Civil War, with honors. The saddest part about this is that she never got to tell him that he was going to be a father. A week or so after she got the news that she lost her husband, she lost her baby, as well.
Fern became a tough little 22 year-old-woman after going through these traumatic experiences. She knew she was going to have to be tough if she was going to keep on keeping on. She never married again, and she passed away at just 29. She says it was just her time, but we believe she died of a broken heart.
When she lost her husband and her unborn son, she spent a lot of time trying to channel them. She wasn't a psychic, and she didn't have mediumship skills, but she was bound and determined to learn how to communicate with her family. Within 6 months, her efforts paid off. She saw Mason in her bedroom when she woke up one morning. He leaned over, and kissed her on the forehead, and said, "I'm here now my love". She said she will never forget that moment. A year later, she felt her son moving through her. She said it was unmistakable that it was his spirit. She never communicated with him, but she saw him a few times. She said he showed himself to her as a cute blonde boy with blue eyes and he looked just like his father. She didn't know what to call him when she saw him because he had never been named. She was only four months along when she lost him. She decided from that moment on that she would call him Chad, after her father.
After she learned how to communicate with her family, she suddenly started hearing from spirits everywhere she went. They knew she learned how to put herself out there at their level, so they all wanted her to give messages to their loved ones. She spent the rest of her short life relaying messages to people near and far. Many letters were mailed, and many locals were visited. A lot of the people she contacted thought she was crazy, but many were also very receptive to her.
Fern says with her giving you the tools she learned how to use, she can help you to hear spirits, see them, and feel them as well. She warns that you may end up hearing many more than you hope to, so be sure you are down for this! Learning how to tune them out is a whole other talent!
For offerings, Fern likes collard greens, radishes, onions, pig's feet, corn bread, mustard greens, tomatoes, fried or grilled chicken, baked beans, sweet tea, peaches, cranberry sauce, applesauce, bananas, white chocolate, white wine, charoite stone, amethyst, anything purple in color (all shades), and lilies.
